In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Deaton explained that those who refer to SBF as a person with good intentions who made mistakes are probably not fit to work in the financial industry. He therefore called for such sympathizers not to be considered for interviews with prominent television shows such as CBS’s 60 Minutes.
Indeed, the crypto community is deeply divided. Some are deeply concerned about SBF’s alleged investment fraud, while others are still trying to portray him positively in the media. Even after FTX’s bankruptcy filing, SBF continued to participate in interviews and was often portrayed as a hero of the crypto industry, which only led to more backlash within the community.
